The second iteration of the support study begins
The Observatory on the Online Platform Economy is supported and steered by the support study. The study assists the Observatory in the formulation and execution of a monitoring strategy for the platform economy. The first iteration of the study in 2019-2021 was carried out by the consortium of PPMI (the lead partner), Open Evidence, RAND Europe, and the German Economic Institute (IW). In July 2021 the European Commission has contracted a new consortium made up of Visionary Analytics (the lead partner), Kantar, and NTT DATA to continue the support for the Observatory.
The purpose of the second iteration of the study is to support the Commission in running the Observatory by providing insights on the market trends and commercial relations between providers of online intermediation services and business users. The study also supports the work of the expert group as it provides evidence, data, and in-depth analyses of the key trends and emerging issues in the European online platform economy. The consortium is also responsible for maintaining an online website serving as an interface between stakeholders, the expert group, and the Commission.
