European Commission launches online survey on the ranking transparency guidelines

In the framework of the EU regulation on platform-to-business relations, the Commission has launched a targeted online survey to gather feedback on the objectives of the ranking transparency guidelines.

Under the new Regulation on platform-to-business relations (P2B), online intermediation services, such as ecommerce marketplaces, app stores and online travel agents, are required to outline in their terms and conditions the main parameters determining ranking and explain their relative importance. A similar obligation applies to online search engines.

To help online intermediation services and online search engines understand this obligation before its application on 12 July 2020, the Commission will produce guidelines. Stakeholders are encouraged to give their feedback and suggestions on the broad objectives of the guidelines as well as possible sectoral specificities, illustrative examples, industry best practices and future trends. Share your views in the survey until 31 December 2019.

More info on the objectives of the guidelines can be found here.
