First meeting of the expert group

On 27 September 2018, the expert group for the Observatory on the Online Platform Economy gathered in Brussels for its first meeting.

The Commission presented its objectives and approach to platforms regulation, followed by a presentation of the Commission’s proposal for a regulation on promoting fairness and transparency for business users of the online intermediation services (P2B regulation). The Commission also explained the rationale behind its Decision setting up the Observatory, the tasks and structure of the expert group, and the role of the study supporting the Observatory.

Members of the group discussed with the Commission the topics they believed should be prioritised in the first phase of the group’s work, taking account the issues mentioned in the Commission Decision of 26 April 2018 that established the expert group.
